Modern Haiku

Bernard Einbond

the white of her neck
as she lifts her hair for me
to undo her dress

the thousand colors
in her plain brown hair—
morning sunshine

And a small response poem to Basho's famous frog-pond haiku:

frog pond . . .
a leaf falls in
without a sound

Minerva T. Bloom

all is green and lush
twinkling from early showers
soft wings, sing above

who answers our past?
pattern of nature's design
whispering raindrops

creativity is
the sum of all our parts
like filaments' of light

go to bed & sleep
and cut through
all illusions

& the end of a poem by Ani DiFranco

to make sure they
didn't die in vain -- sshhhhhh.... baby
listen hear the train?
